Alka, is a Loreto House Kolkata, alumni and has completed her post graduate certification in Human Resources from XLRI one of India's oldest and renowned business school.
She is passionate about people, coffee and talking and can be found spending hours discussing or reading about the intricacies of human relationships while savouring her coffee !!
She is extremely affable and holds high value to nurturing relationships, integrity and confidentiality.
Her natural affinity to connect with people led her to work in Hospitality, Retail, and the Recruitment sectors.
After spending a decade working in these industries, she turned into a fulltime entrepreneur by establishing a recruitment firm in 1997 .
Her recruitment firm "The Leading Edge" hired within different industries at various executive levels, across geographies. This helped expand and strengthen her global outreach.
Engaging with candidates across levels of seniority also added greatly to her understanding of the subtlety of human behaviour, biases, intuitions and stereotyping.
She took a break from the recruitment space in 2016 after running the firm successfully for 17 years when she relocated to London, UK.
Sometime in August this year she found herself in the midst of many requests from friends and the extended family and friend circle to find matrimonial matches for their children Having successfully matched a few, and appreciated by her friends for the professional yet personal way she managed the process, she succumbed to the entrepreneurial bug and got back on the saddle by kickstarting the matrimonial matchmaking consultancy service.
In 2015 she relocated to the UK and now resides between India and UK .
She had also cofounded an NGO that built on creating awareness on the benefits of sanitation. It worked closely with the slum dwellers and the Rag picker community .
